Given that the cost of ink is very low and therefore not part of the equation, are there other good reasons for getting a different model ? It has to be supported by Quadtone RIP as described here and make prints up to 16x20 inches. This ink is compatible with EPSON Stylus Photo R2400, R2880, R3000 and Stylus Pro 3800, 3880, 4800, 4880, 7800, 7880, 9800, 9880 printers.

For reference, I have owned (and still do) Epson 2200 & SP 3880 printers. Remanufactured Epson Inkjet Cartridge, T580400 / T5804 Yellow 80ml Pigment. My main complaint with the 3880 is the feed mechanism, which uses rollers. I have one unit with a clogged yellow channel still under extended warranty. Hope the print head is not the problem b/c it's about 500. Printers driven by PowerRIP DTF, have no banding problems at lower resolutions. Assumed you have done a thorough cleaning. There is an authorized Epson repair facility within a few hours of my home, but I wonder if I should repair it, replace it with another of the same model, or look for an improvement. This same problem occurred on my 3800 and I took it in for diagnosis and it needed a print head. For example, if yellow is clogged, use a WHITE CHANNEL and use YELLOW INK. The printer is now sitting, useless, in my garage. with most Epson based DTG RIP, DTF RIP, UV RIP and Transfer RIP Printers. While cleaning it according to this excellent video I damaged the damper mechanism. I did this with my Epson 2100 and the yellow channel clogged immediately.
However, after an extended period of inactivity, some of the channels became clogged. A few years ago I converted my Epson 3880 printer to MIS Eboni inks and Quadtone RIP and have run it with minimal problems.
